Now, ONV Kurup sings in Russian

Poet O.N.V. Kurup presents a memento to Gorky Institute ofWorld Literature president Kudelin Alexander Borisovich at afunction organised in Moscow to release a collection of his 50poems in Russian translation on Friday.

Jnanpith-winning poet O.N.V. Kurup had one of the most memorable moments in his life on Friday, when, for the first time, a collection of his 50 poems in Russian translation was published at the Gorky Institute of World Literature in Moscow.

According to information reaching here, academician Kudelin Alexander Borisovich, president of the institute, received the book. Among those present were Sherbakova Marina Ivanovn, head of Russian and Oriental Classical Literature at the Russian Academy of Sciences, besides a galaxy of Russian poets and writers.

The collection, brought out by the institute, has selections from his widely read and appreciated collections as

Bhoomikkoru Charamageetham besides a poem on Tolstoy. The volume, which opens and ends with poems on Russia’s iconic poet Pushkin, also has articles on the poet and his work.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has authored the introduction of the book. Only occasional works of the poet have been translated into Russian so far. The poet also addressed a literary gathering at the Pushkin Institute where he and delivered a lecture at the Department of Letters of the Moscow University.
