Notes of protest resound

 : For an issue that had raised many an opinion, mimicry artist Thrissur Naseer found a novel way to register protest.  

He conducted a 13-hour marathon mouth organ performance on Saturday to create awareness about the street dog menace. “The number of street dogs has increased in an alarming proportion. The authorities are turning a blind eye towards this burning issue,” Mr. Nasser said.

Many people, including women and children, thronged the show.

He performed 300-odd songs in various languages including Malayalam, Hindi and Tamil.

Urging the State and Union governments to take effective steps to curb the stray dog issue, he performed in the city from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

The programme was conducted in a lorry at various points, including Town Hall, Press Club, Sakthan Nagar bus stand Sakthan Market in the city.

Flex boards carrying news about stray dog attacks were exhibited in the lorry.
