Minister for Revenue and Vigilance Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan has said the State government has no role in the resignation of P.A. Ahamed, Special Prosecutor of the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau in the palmolein import case.
Speaking to media persons here on Thursday, Mr. Radhakrishnan said the government had never interfered with the functioning of the Special Prosecutor. Instead, the government had always provided the necessary support required for proceeding with the case.
The Minister refuted the allegation made by Mr. Ahamed that the government was attempting to weaken the case. ‘‘He has never conveyed his displeasure regarding any matter concerning the case at any point of time. A complaint in this regard could also have been made before the Kerala High Court on his behalf, but he did not pursue the option either. His accusations against the government should be seen as part of a preconceived ploy,'' the Minister said.

He clarified that the State leadership had never undermined the vigilance inquiry in any way.
He said the team that was constituted by the previous LDF government for the investigation in the case had been retained by the present government. In addition, the Vigilance Director who had been appointed by former Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan had also been retained.
A high degree of transparency had been maintained by the present government during the course of the case and it had never attempted to influence the case, he said.
