No proof of bogus voting in Kannur, says CEC

May 14, 2014 10:12 am | Updated 10:12 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

There was no proof of bogus voting in 103 booths in Kannur, Chief Electoral Officer Nalini Netto has said.

Responding to queries about the complaints of bogus voting in Kannur, Ms. Netto said here on Tuesday that the booths were under camera surveillance and the close scrutiny of Central forces. The complaints were untenable, she said.

All arrangements have been made for counting the votes polled for the 20 Lok Sabha segments on May 16. The counting will start at 8 a.m. in 160 halls across the State. In addition to the postal votes, the votes recorded in 21,427 electronic voting machines (EVMs) too have to be counted. As many as 7,500 personnel have been posted for counting. She said the trend of counting would be available through real-time transmission technology on the Central Election Commission’s website. The public can access the results on www.trend.kerala.gov.in and for those on the move it would be available on android-supported mobile phones by downloading the application ‘Kerala Election.’

“In all likelihood, the results of Mavelikera constituency, which has nine candidates, will be known first, and Thiruvananthapuram with 20 candidates might be known last,” she said.
