Satheesan Namboodiri of Pazhayathu Mana, 45, was on Saturday selected as the new melsanthi of the Guruvayur Sreekrishna Temple. He is a member of the Othikkan family. He was selected by a draw of lots at the temple from 46 candidates shortlisted for the post. Outgoing melsanthi Hareesh Namboodiri drew the lots. The six-month term of the new melsanthi begins on April 1. Satheesan Namboodiri had applied for the position 17 times earlier.
