New born baby abandoned in Marayur forest, dies

A new born male baby, who was abandoned in the forest area of Marayur at Parapetty died at the Taluk Hospital in Admaly on Tuesday.

The infant, rescued by Adivasi women, was first taken to the Marayur Health Centre and later rushed to the taluk hospital for special care.

Police identified the mother of the baby as Rosemary. She had sought medical help after delivering the child at the Primary Health Centre on Monday night.

A case has been registered and inquiry was going on, said the Marayur police.
