Court seeks material collected by the police against filmmaker

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the case relating to the sexual assault on a female actor informed the High Court on Monday that during interrogation, filmmaker Nadirsha had suppressed many facts which have been proved otherwise.

In a statement filed in response to Nadirsha’s anticipatory bail petition, Baiju Poulose, Investigating Officer, said the entire interrogation of Nadirsha done on September 17 at the Aluva Police Club had been videographed. Questions were put to him regarding certain incriminating circumstances noticed against him and some other relevant points. His answers to the questions about his role had not been satisfactory.

It was seen that he had suppressed many facts. Moreover, the investigation team had limitations while questioning him as he had frequently expressed uneasiness due to ill health. Further verification was being done with respect to his answers. The petitioner had not been made an accused so far and he need not be arrested at present.

When the bail petition was taken up for hearing, the court asked the prosecutor to furnish the material collected by the police against Nadirsha in a sealed cover.

The court also asked the Director General of Prosecution to state whether further interrogation of Nadirsha was necessary and whether the police wanted to arrest him.

The petition was adjourned to September 25.
