Minister opens 46th KPPSHA State meet in Thiruvalla

A total revamping of the State’s primary school education was badly needed to improve the quality of education in the fast changing technological age, said Mr K.P. Mohanan, Minister for Agriculture.

The Minister was inaugurating the delegates’ session of the 46th State meet of the Kerala Private Primary School Headmasters’ Association (KPPSHA) in Thiruvalla on Monday.

According to him, schools should be made attractive and student-friendly so as to improve the quality of education.

Associations like KPPSHA should take the necessary initiatives in this regard, he said.

Mr Mohanan said the Government has taken a positive stand towards addressing various problems facing the headmasters.

The Minister said attempts by certain official quarters aimed at sabotaging the package for teachers came to the notice of the Government.

S. Ramachandran, KPPSHA State resident, presided over the function and K. Pradeepan, association secretary, presented the annual report.

Dr Varghese George, Plantation Corporation of Kerala Limited chairman, delivered the keynote address. T. Sasidharan, R. Kailas, P. Venugoal, association office-bearers and Joe Ennakkad, Socialist Janata Party district leader, also spoke.

Women’s forum meet

Prof S. Saradakkutty, literateur and academic, inaugurated the women’s forum meet in the afternoon.

C.K. Shereena, forum chairperson, presided over the meet.

The three-day State meet will come to a close on Wednesday.
