Intel and Keltron will team up with Mahatma Gandhi University to establish an e-learning educational grid that will link all the affiliated colleges and the university teaching departments. The university hopes to link the 300-odd colleges, the 7000-odd teachers and 3.5 lakh students through a comprehensive e-learning project.
The project envisages to link content management systems, digital learning, video conferencing facilities, learning management system, virtual labs and massive open online courses through dedicated networks. The project also envisages the setting up of an information power house to cater to the e-content demands of the faculty and the students.
Separate kiosks will be established in all the institutions to bring the services of the university to the user, doing away with the system of physically approaching the university for its services. All institutions will have separate servers to facilitate online and offline dissemination of learning materials and tutorials. A high-level meeting of the university authorities and representatives of Intel and Keltron at the university on Friday decided to finalise the project proposal within a week. The project will also address issues such as ensuring unlimited and uninterrupted connectivity in all the institutions. This would necessitate the installation of a 4 TB dedicated server at the university.

All digital learning contents with text, audio, video, virtual labs and simulations will be made accessible to all the students of the university who would be able to access the content from anywhere, anytime using username and password.
