Manjula Chellur was on Wednesday sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court. Governor H.R. Bharadwaj administered the oath of office at a simple function at Raj Bhavan here. Ms. Chellur is the 30th Chief Justice of the High Court.
Soon after the swearing-in function, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and his Cabinet colleagues presented her bouquets.

O.V. Ravindran and Nanda Kumara Menon, president and general secretary respectively of the Kerala High Court Senior Advocates’ Association, also felicitated the new Chief Justice.
Ms. Chellur was functioning as the Acting Chief Justice of the High Court prior to her elevation. Born on December 5, 1955, Ms. Chellur enrolled as an advocate in 1978 and practised in courts in Bellary district in Karnataka. She joined the Karnataka Judicial Service as District Judge in 1988. In February 2000, she was appointed Additional Judge in the Karnataka High Court.
She became a permanent Judge in August the same year. She was transferred to the Kerala High Court in November 2011.
