Court also slaps fines of ₹50,000 each on three accused

The Kollam Second Additional Sessions Judge on Monday awarded life imprisonment to two persons who were found guilty of murder.

The court also imposed a fine of ₹50,000 on the first and third accused, identified as Nazir, Kallukunnumpurathu Veedu, Karukone, and Baiju, Charuvila Puthanveedu, Karukone. The second accused Ansar Adwani, Thottumkara Puthanveedu, Karukone, was sentenced to seven years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of ₹50,000. The court found the three guilty of murdering Unni of Lakshamveedu, Pullanjiyodu, in October 2014.

According to the prosecution, the three accused took Unni to a rubber farm near Pullanjiyode bridge where he was kicked and stamped to death by the trio. While Ansar Adwani and Baiju held Unni’s hands, the first accused kicked on his stomach several times. Later, all the three manhandled Unni causing serious damage to his internal organs.

Unni succumbed to his injuries at the Government Medical College Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram, on October 11, 2014.

The Anchal police had registered a case and the report was submitted before the court. Additional Public Prosecutor S. Vinoba appeared for the prosecution.
