Library council awards

: The Velam Public Library at Mayyil here will be presented the Kerala State Library Council's (KSLC) best library award at a function at the library on March 29.

Communist Party of India (Marxist) Polit Bureau member Pinarayi Vijayan will present the KSLC’s awards at the function at 3 p.m. The public library that won the EMS Memorial Award for best library will be presented the award, which carries a purse of Rs.50,000 and a bronze statuette and citation, council State president A.K. Chandran said here on Saturday. Pirappankod Murali will be bestowed the P.N. Panikkar Memorial Award for best library activist. The award comprises a cash packet of Rs.25,000 and citation. The Vijnaana Poshini Reading Room at Keezhara here will be presented the DC Memorial Award for best rural library in the State.
