: The United Democratic Front (UDF) kicked off its north zone vehicle rally, part of its north zone campaign trail, here on Monday by accusing the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI-M) of adopting double standards on the charges levelled against the former minister and party leader Elamaram Karim.
Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) general secretary K.P.A. Majeed said the CPI(M) preferred to downplay the charges raised by a senior official of the public sector Malabar Cements Ltd. accusing Mr. Kareem of accepting bribe. At the same time, the Left parties appeared keen to trust the version of those accused in the infamous Solar panel scam, he said.
He said while Prime Minister Narendra Modi was busy making foreign trips, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy was engaged in addressing public issues by organising the Chief Minister’s mass public contact programmes in all districts. Mr. Majeed, who is leading the march, was addressing a public function that was attended by senior UDF leaders.

“The UDF will not only continue to rule for the stipulated five-year tenure, but also would return to power in next elections, he claimed while listing out the achievements made by the
UDF government in the last four years.
At the function held at the north Kottachery grounds, party leaders garlanded Mr.. Majeed and KPCC secretary K.P. Kunhikannan, vice-captain of the march, with currency notes.
