KVS science exhibition concludes

Kendriya Vidayala, Kasaragod, bags first position in quiz

The two-day Jawaharlal Nehru National Science, Mathematics and Environment Exhibition 2018-19 of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sanghathan (KVS), Ernakulam Region, being held at Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV), Kannur, concluded on Tuesday.

Defence Security Corps Centre Commandant Col. Ajay Sharma, who is also chairman of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Kannur, formally inaugurated the event on Tuesday. C. Karunakaran, officiating Deputy Commissioner, KVS Ernakulam, was the guest of honour. T. Vijayan, Principal, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Kannur, was also present.

Kendriya Vidyalaya, Kasaragod, bagged the first position in the quiz. Kendriya Vidyalaya, Payyannur, and Kendriya Vidyalaya, Malappuram, secured the second and third positions respectively. On the first day, a seminar was conducted on ‘Water management and waste management’. P. Harinarayanan, senior scientist, Kerala State Council for Science Technology and Environment, presented the topic.

In his presentation, he highlighted all contemporary issues related to water and waste management.

Dr. Harinarayanan also spoke on wetland ecology, proximity of wetland and culture, water cycle, conservation and management, sewage contamination, depletion of aquifers, ecological disaster and ecosystem services, among others. Gayathri B. of Class XI of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Kannur, made a presentation on water resource management.
