Kunhalikutty says it is baseless

Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) general secretary P.K. Kunhalikutty, MP, has described the criticism against him for missing the voting in Lok Sabha on the triple talaq Bill as baseless.

In a statement from Abu Dhabi on Friday, Mr. Kunhalikutty said that some vested interests had deliberately twisted the matter to portray him in poor light.

He said parties such as the IUML and the Congress had originally decided to boycott the Bill when it came up for discussion on Thursday. But when certain parties decided to vote, the IUML too changed its decision.

Mr. Kunhalikutty said that what had taken place in Lok Sabha on Thursday was not a full-scale voting. He said he could not attend because of some other emergencies.
