21-year-old Younus Ilyas of Mangad bags prize in 2,000 cc category

Younus Ilyas of Mangad in Kollam city was crowned second runner-up in the Indian Rally Championship (IRC) 2015 of the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India held in Bengaluru last week.

The 21-year-old Mr. Younus bagged the prize in the 2,000 cc category. He had Paul Thomas of Ernakulam working with the Kerala Fire and Rescue Services as his navigator.

Mr. Younus made his debut in the IRC only last year and since then made tremendous impact in the race along with his mate.

During the Bengaluru race, he had won the appreciation of both peers and experts for his technical and racing skills. They said the duo had the potential more challenges to race competitors in the coming years.

Mr. Younus is a mechanical engineering student of the Vinayaka Mission Engineering College, Salem. He said racing was attracting much enthusiasm in Kollam and had a big fan following here.
