1. AICC weighs action against K. V.Thomas

AICC disciplinary committee will meet under the chairmanship of Congress Working Committee (CWC) member A. K. Antony in New Delhi to weigh disciplinary action against former Union Minister Professor K. V. Thomas for violating party discipline by attending a CPI(M) sponsored seminar in Kannur despite a diktat from national president Sonia Gandhi.

2. CM chairs law enforcement meeting

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will chair a meeting of law enforcement officers. Cracking down on gangsterism, environmental crime, and the inflow of synthetic drugs are reportedly on the agenda.

3. Ruling front trade unions protest against KSEB chairman

Ruling front trade unions commence an indefinite sit-in protest in front of the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) headquarters to pressure KSEB chairman, B. Asok, to rescind the suspension of KSEB Officers Association Union (CITU) president M. G. Suresh Kumar and secretary B. Harikumar.

4. CM to flag-off K-Swift’s long-distance bus operations

Despite a boycott threat by opposition trade unions, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will flag off KSRTC’s K-Swift long-haul operations. INTUC and BMS have alleged that creating a separate company for the relatively profitable long haul operations would lead to layoffs in the KSRTC, the parent public utility.

5. Sex racket busted in Idukki

The Idukki police have busted a racket that sold a minor girl. It has arrested at least six persons based on the victim’s statement. Efforts are on to identify other persons who sexually exploited the child.
