The scrutiny of the video recordings of the proceedings of the Kerala Assembly relating to the controversial voting on the Appropriation Bill on July 20 is likely to be held on August 10.
Chief Minister Oommen Chandy had requested the Speaker to permit the scrutiny of the recordings in view of the allegation by Opposition Leader V. S. Achuthanandan that a member of the ruling Front had voted for another member also on the Bill.
The Legislature Secretariat has already contacted the Chief Minister and the Opposition Leader for fixing the time for the scrutiny, on oral directions from Speaker G. Karthikeyan, and both had consented to holding the scrutiny at 4 pm on August 10. Accordingly, the Speaker is expected to issue written orders on examination of the videos shortly, sources said.

The scrutiny would be done in the presence of Government Chief Whip P. C. George and other legislature party leaders besides the Chief Minister, the Opposition Leader and the Speaker.
The Chief Minister had said his letter requesting scrutiny that the government viewed the matter seriously as the Opposition was alleging impersonation and creating a smokescreen over the issue. So, the facts should be brought to light.
