KCC to hold consultation on role of Legislature

Kerala Council of Churches (KCC) will be organising a consultation on `Kerala Legislature, role and performance’ at Beleivers’ Church Youth Centre in Thiruvalla on Tuesday.

In a statement issued here on Sunday, Prof Philip N. Thomas, KCC general secretary, said former Supreme Court Judge, K.T. Thomas, will inaugurate the consultation at 3.30 pm on Tuesday. Kuriakose Mar Ivanios Metropolitan, KCC president, will preside the function.

According to Prof Thomas, the proceedings of the Kerala Legislative Assembly these days have been a matter of serious discussion and evaluation by the media, especially following the live transmission of the proceedings of the House, enabling the public to have a direct assessment, he said.

Dr N.K. Jayakumar, Vice-Chancellor of National University of Advanced Legal Studies, will deliver the keynote address.

Mathew T. Thomas, MLA; Joseph M. Puthusserry and Elizabeth Mammen Mathai, former MLAs, will address the function.

Dr Varghese George, Fr Reji Mathew, Ms Elizabeth George, Mr V.C. Sabu, Dr Simon John, Mr T.O. Elias and Mr Jojo P. Thomas, will also take part in the discussion to be followed.
