In a major shift in policy, the Health Department, which is in charge of the e-Health project, has decided to bring in the State IT Mission as the implementing agency.

“In the absence of a chief consultant, we cannot allow the project to be in limbo. The PMU will continue but the technical supervision will now be under the IT Mission. We are not handing over the project but outsourcing the technical expertise because the IT Mission has vast experience implementing projects like e-District and e-Office.

Any complaints regarding the software will be examined by them and the pilot will be rolled out only after their approval,” K. Ellangovan, Health Secretary, said.

K. Mohammed Y. Safirulla, Director, IT Mission, will now be the Joint Project Director of e-Health.

Dr. Ellangovan said that the technical team had raised issues about the software but nothing had been communicated in writing to him so that it could be taken up with the IT company.
