Police to interrogate more persons, including the reporter of an online daily

Hanan Hamid

The Kochi city police on Sunday arrested a 42-year-old man in connection with the cyberattack on Hanan Hamid, a third year undergraduate student at a college in Thodupuzha.

The arrested was identified as Viswanathan, a native of Guruvayur in Thrissur. He is accused of posting a derogatory comment against the student under a video posted by one Nooruddin Sheik. The video, which was viewed and shared widely, triggered a hate campaign against the girl in the cyberworld. The police had already subjected Sheik to interrogation in this connection.

Viswanathan was produced before a court, which remanded him to judicial custody.
