Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said his government is committed to reinstating T.P. Senkumar as State Police Chief in consonance with the Supreme Court order.

Replying to a notice for an adjournment motion by M. Ummer in the Assembly on Tuesday, Mr. Vijayan said the government had set the process in motion even before getting a certified copy of the order. Chief Secretary Nalini Netto had initiated the process for reinstating Mr. Senkumar. The government got the legal opinion of the Advocate-General on Monday, he said.
‘Force headless’
Mr. Ummer alleged that since the Supreme Court order on April 24, the State Police had remained silent. The delay in implementing the order was unjustified. Though the government could easily reach out to the Law Secretary and the Advocate General, it was delaying the decision, he said.

Leader of the Opposition Ramesh Chennithala agreed that the Police force was headless. By delaying a decision, the government was setting a wrong precedent, he said.
