Even as slain Revolutionary Marxist Party (RMP) leader T.P. Chandrasekharan’s wife K.K. Rema’s indefinite fast continued for the fourth day on Thursday, Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala made it clear that the government had not given any assurance to the RMP leadership on referring the conspiracy angle of the Chandrasekharan murder case for CBI inquiry.
Mr. Chennithala, responding to reporters’ queries here, said the need or otherwise of a CBI inquiry could be found only after a preliminary inquiry into Ms. Rema’s complaint that a conspiracy was on well before Chandrasekharan’s death to eliminate him. “The government cannot say that it will order a CBI inquiry. That can be found only through an investigation,” the Minister said.
The RMP leadership too said as much, but accused the government of hiding under technicalities to help the CPI(M).

During their talks with the government, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and the Home Minister were not ready to give any firm assurance on ordering a CBI inquiry.
