The residents of Mundarath Tharavad, the ancestral house of Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development Shashi Tharoor, at Elavancherry, near here, are in shock following the tragic death of Mr. Tharoor’s wife, Sunanda Pushkar, in New Delhi on Friday.

It was in this house that Mr. Tharoor and Sunanda got married on August 22, 2010, in a traditional Kerala wedding.

Jaya Shankini Amma, 98-year-old grandmother of Mr. Tharoor, has not been informed about Sunanda’s death yet, said Mukundan Unni, uncle of Mr. Tharoor. The Minister last visited his grandmother in August 2013, and the couple came to the family home together in 2012.
