A Division Bench of the Kerala High Court on Tuesday directed the police to ensure that no law-and-order problem takes place during the solemnisation of the marriage of actor Meera Jasmine with Anil John Titus at a church in Thiruvananthapuram on February 12.
The Bench comprising Chief Justice Manjula Chellur and Justice A.M .Shaffique issued the directive on a petition filed by Anil John Titus, the bridegroom, seeking police protection for the marriage.
According to him, a former friend of him from Bangalore, whom he had earlier planned to marry, and her father had threatened that his marriage with Meera would not be allowed to take place. The marriage is scheduled for Wednesday at the CSI Mateer Memorial church, Palayam.

Anil, an engineer by profession and employed in Dubai, said in his petition that his former friend, was trying to prevent his marriage. According to him, they had a plan to get married and on the insistence of the woman both of them went through some marriage ceremony at Tirupati. He pointed out that a family court in Bangalore had dismissed a petition filed by the woman for divorce on the ground that their marriage was a nullity.
The petitioner said that the woman reached Meera’s house on January 23 and informed her about his earlier marriage and threatened that she would not permit the marriage. She demanded a huge amount as compensation from the petitioner without any basis, the petitioner alleged.
The State government submitted that the police would be on the church premises as important guests would attend the marriage function.
