Girl's mysterious death at T.N: Two arrested

A police team led by Kattappana Deputy SP K.M.Jijimon on Saturday arrested two persons in connection with a case related to the mysterious death of a 15-year-old girl from Peerumedu at Perambalur in Tamil Nadu on July 4.

Those arrested were Pampanar resident Paneerselvom, who worked as an agent in a deal for sending the the girl, a student at a school in Peerumade to work as a housemaid at Perambalur, and Vijayakumar, who helped him.

The Tamil Nadu police on Friday arrested Perambalur ex-MLA Rajkumar and two accomplices, Mahendran and Ambarasan.

The agents had told the parents of the girl who are workers in an estate at Peerumade that the ex-MLA will take care of the girl and will send her to a school at Perambalur. The girl had been sent to Tamil Nadu on June 22, and on June 29, she was admitted to a private hospital in a serious condition there. Remaining in coma for four days, she was shifted to the Theni Medical College and died later. A postmortem report confirmed that she was a victim of rape and had consumed poison.

The parents filed a case before the Peerumade police station and the Circle Inspector was inquiring in to it. The duo were absconding since the case surfaced. They were produced before the First Class Judicial Magistrate Court here and were remanded.
