Former Governor advocates Gandhian ideals

The contemporary economic problem faced by the nation can be solved only if by incorporating a Gandhian perspective in the country’s policy dimension, according to M.M. Jacob the former Governor of Meghalaya.

He was inaugurating a two-day seminar organised by the Centre for Gandhian Studies of the St. Berchmans College on Thursday.

Mr. Jacob said that the western countries have already recognised the importance and are seriously imbibing the Gandhian philosophy and values. It is high time that Indian administration also return to the Gandhian ideas of development, he said.

He added that the very survival of the humanity is in danger due to the unheeded competition and exploitation of the nature.

Vice Principal Jacob Thomas presided over the function.

College bursar Reji Plathotam and Press Academy chairman P. Rajendran offered felicitations on the occasion.

Jose Mathew, Director, Centre for Gandhian Studies welcomed the gathering.

The two-day seminar focused on development environment, corruption and black economy.
