Focus on infrastructure development

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has stressed the importance of infrastructure facilities for attaining development.

He was speaking after inaugurating the convention centre of the Thiruvambadi Devaswom here on Sunday.

Mayor Rajan Pallan presided over the function.

Addressing the function the Mayor said, the main roads, including the Marar Road, would be widened if the people cooperate with the local body. Minister for Cooperation C.N. Balakrishnan was the chief guest.

A cultural programme led by Sivamani, Stephan Devassy and Balabhaskar followed.

The Nandanam auditorium with a seating capacity of 1,100 has modern seating arrangement. It has a mess hall with 500 seats. Around 140 cars can be parked on the compound. The Sreevalsam block has 22 rooms and a mini hall. The complex with 90,000 sq.ft. area has been built at Rs. 20 crore.

The Chief Minister said the renovated corporation stadium would be returned to the city corporation.

The Chief Minister also inaugurated the renovation work on the Thrissur Press Club on Sunday. Press Club president V.M. Radhakrishnan presided over. Minister C.N. Balakrishnan, Mayor Rajan Pallan, Therambil Ramakrishnan, P.A. Madhavan, C. Raveendranath, MLAs, Press Club secretary K.C. Anil Kumar and others spoke.
