Refusal to stop vehicle for a passenger

Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) Managing Director A. Hemachandran has sought a report from Minnal bus staff for refusing to stop the bus for a traveller at Payyoli at 2 a.m. recently.

The bus staff reportedly declined to stop the vehicle at Payyoli for a girl student who had boarded the bus from Pala, on the grounds that Minnal service was not supposed to stop between approved stops.

They had also refused to stop the vehicle at two places between Payyoli and Kannur despite an intervention by the police.

Finally, the police had to block the road at Chombala to stop the bus.

Humanitarian grounds

The KSRTC authorities pointed out that the bus could have been stopped for the passenger on humanitarian grounds. That the staff did not stop the vehicle for the police also amounts to a grave act of misconduct.
