All documents and material objects connected with the Enrica Lexie case were transferred from the custody of the Kollam District and Sessions Court to the Supreme Court through the Kerala High Court on Monday.
The case pertains to the shooting and killing of two Indian fishermen by two Italian marines from the ship Enrica Lexie on February 15, 2012.The Supreme Court on January 18 directed the constitution of a special court for the trial of the case after ruling that the Kerala government had no jurisdiction over the case. But, before the verdict was given, the case had come up for trial before the Kollam court and all the material objects and documents came under its custody.
Following the Supreme Court verdict, the investigation of the case was handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The NIA Dy.SP, P.V. Vikraman, then moved the Kollam court for release of the documents and material objects to facilitate investigation of the case. The Kollam court last week ordered that the documents and material objects be handed over to the Supreme Court through the High Court.

On Monday morning all the documents and material objects were sealed and sent to the High Court under heavily armed police escort. The material objects include rifles, bullet proof vests, ammunition and the GPS of the ship and the fishing boat. The documents range from the FIR of the case to forensic science laboratory test reports..
