Ebola surveillance has been strengthened in all airports and seaports in the State and Rapid Response Teams (RRTs) have been deployed in all districts. The State is on full alert against Ebola and there is no situation which may be of concern, Health Minister V. S. Sivakumar has said.
At a high-level meeting convened here on Monday to discuss the Ebola surveillance in the State, senior health officials pointed out that all surveillance and monitoring facilities suggested by the World Health Organisation as well as the Union Health Ministry had been put in place.
Apart from flash thermometer, thermal scanners have been installed in the Thiruvananthapuram, Cochin and Karipur airports to detect variations in the body temperature of passengers from a distance.

A team of health officials, led by Health Secretary K. Ellangovan, visited the Thiruvananthapuram airport on Monday to oversee the medical facilities.
Isolation and treatment facilities have been arranged in the Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam and Kozhikode medical colleges and the general hospitals in Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam and Kozhikode.
Toll-free number helpline – 1056 and 0471-2552056-- have also been set up to clear any doubts of air passengers .
