Private agency undertook task at ₹13.65 crore

Leader of the Opposition Ramesh Chennithala on Sunday demanded the annulment of the LIFE Mission consultancy given to a private agency at ₹13.65 crore in view of the corruption charges raised against the agency.

In a letter to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan here, Mr. Chennithala said that the private agency was appointed bypassing the government and the engineering section of the local bodies. He said that the LIFE Mission was being implemented by integrating various State and central housing schemes Mr. Chennithala said the new agency was appointed at a time when there were thousands of engineers in the department. It was a contradiction that the victims of the recent floods were eligible for only ₹4 lakh-assistance compared to the ₹13.65-crore fee to the consultancy.
