The Democratic Development Front floated by the breakaway Congress group concentrated in the hilly pocket of Trikaripur Assembly segment is contemplating to float a new political outfit ahead of the upcoming polls, a move that could seriously hamper the chances of the UDF which has been on a desperate comeback trail in the crucial election.

The DDF which sprang a surprise by wresting power in East Eleri, the lone panchayat governed by the Congress in the Assembly limits and lost the Chittarikkal district panchayat division by a slender 205 votes, is contemplating to float a political outfit and field its nominee in the coming polls and left a final decision to the steering committee.

The move by the DDF could upset the plans of the Congress party which is making all-out efforts to field a popular face to offset the reasonably formidable 8,765 votes margin enjoyed by the CPI(M) in Trikaripur assembly segment, DDF chairman James Pandamakkan pointed out.

Mr. Pandamakkan said his outfit could go for a rethink of supporting the Congress if the State party leadership revoked all charges levelled against the front’s activists.
