Calls for unity of Left, secular forces

The Centre has been suppressing democratic protests, forcing farmers and labourers to forego their rights to protect capitalist interests, Communist Party of India State unit secretary Kanam Rajendran said here on Thursday.

To resist the anti-people polices of the Modi government, Left and secular forces should move ahead united, he said.

He was releasing the logo of the CPI’s 23rd party congress to be held in Kollam from April 25 to 29.

“During the last couple of years we have seen protests from various sections against the fascist and undemocratic policies of the government. And the CPI thinks we all should come under one broad secular umbrella to fight this,” he added.

Kollam as a bastion

It is for the fourth time the CPI party congress is bring held in Kerala, Mr. Rajendran said. Considering the present political climate, the 23rd party congress would be crucial.

“Kollam is a stronghold of the Communist Party of India where the working class always stood united with the party,” he added.
