C.N. Mohanan is CPI(M) Ernakulam secretary

The CPI(M) on Wednesday elected C.N. Mohanan, chairman of the Greater Cochin Development Authority (GCDA) and a State committee member of the party since 2012, its district secretary for Ernakulam.

He succeeds P. Rajeev, who was elevated to the CPI(M) State secretariat. Mr. Mohanan will continue to head the GCDA till the time a new appointment is made to the post.

His unanimous election was done at a meeting attended by party State secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan.

A former State president and national vice president of the DYFI, Mr. Mohanan was CPI(M) Kolencherry area secretary till 2005.

He also worked as Kochi unit manager of the party mouthpiece Deshabhimani for 11 years.

A double graduate, including in law, Mr. Mohanan was a practising lawyer for some time.
