Leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) called on Metropolitan Thomas Mar Themotheos of the Kottayam diocese of the Jacobite Syrian Christian Church at the diocese headquarters here on Wednesday.
The BJP delegation was led by national secretary P.K. Krishnadas and comprised State secretary B. Radhakrishnan and party workers N. Hari, K.G. Rajmohan, and P.K. Ravindran.
The meeting, which commenced at 11.30 a.m., lasted for around an hour. Speaking to the media after the meeting, Mr. Krishnadas said there was no discussion regarding the general elections. He, however, added that the party would seek the support of all sections in the run-up to the elections.

Responding to queries posed by reporters, the Metropolitan said an efficient administrative setup led by a strong-willed Prime Minister was needed. Adding that there was “a general feeling that the BJP will come to power after the elections,” he said he expected the party to fight against corruption.
He was of the opinion that the victory of the Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi had given rise to a feeling that any government would have to work for public interest to remain in power.
Asked whether the Church will extend its support to the BJP in the general elections, the Metropolitan said the Church did not have a stance that backed any particular party or individual. He, however, added that the Church did not oppose the party or its Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.
