More than 160 films will be screened at festival to be held from May 10 to 16

Children in Kerala are fortunate to have an international festival of well-known children’s films, especially in an age when few films that inspire young minds are being made here and at the national level, actor Nedumudi Venu has said.

In his childhood days, such events were something children could scarcely dream of, Venu recalled, inaugurating the reception committee office of the second International Children’s Film Festival of Kerala (ICFFK), being organised by the Kerala State Council for Child Welfare. More than 160 films will be screened from May 10 to 16.

Mr. Venu said that in those days, it was hard to come across even plays made for children. Children got to view only plays written for adults, he said. It was in such a scenario that he himself had written and presented a children’s play.

“Today, children in the State are going for films such as

Odiyan and
Madhura Raja . Though they enjoy these films, the fact remains that they have been made for an adult audience.,” he said.

Six screens
