Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president Ramesh Chennithala on Friday refused to be drawn into the controversy related to Kerala Congress (M) leader and Government Chief Whip P.C. George’s letter to Congress president Sonia Gandhi on the solar scam.
“I don’t know the details other than what I read in the newspapers. I have also not spoken to Mr. George about it. Now that efforts are on to sort out issues amicably under the initiative of IUML leader P.K. Kunahlikutty and Kerala Congress (M) leader K.M. Mani, I don’t want to stoke the controversy. Besides, my job as KPCC president is to ensure that differences are narrowed down and the party and the coalition are equipped to fight the upcoming parliament elections in a united manner,” Mr. Chennithala said to persistent questions at a press conference here on the letter Mr. George was purported to have sent to Ms. Gandhi.
The party high command had given him a mandate. There were differences in the party. But his main focus was on sorting out issues to equip the workers to face the parliament elections, he said

The KPCC chief also did not see anything amiss in his writing to Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on the price rise. “I only highlighted a serious issue that would affect the people,” he said, not exactly sharing Mr. Chandy’s views that Mr. Chennithala had written to him on a positive note.
Asked about the terms of reference of the proposed judicial probe into the solar scam, Mr. Chennithala said he had informed the Chief Minister of the party’s stand and would not want to add anything to that.
