Chandy leads in corruption too: Pinarayi

Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] State unit secretary Pinarayi Vijayan has said that Chief Minister Oommen Chandy headed not just the government but also all corrupt deals the State has seen in recent times.

Inaugurating a Secretariat siege by the State unit of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) here on Monday, Mr. Vijayan said everything that should not happen was happening in the State under the United Democratic Front government. Thousands of DYFI activists from the district participated in the siege, forming part of a State-level agitation in protest against recruitment freeze, corruption and price rise. The activists, who arrived by foot, stayed in camps overnight and reached the Secretariat gates by 7 a.m. and laid siege to the three gates of the Secretariat, leaving only the Cantonment gate free.

CPI(M) Polit Bureau member Kodiyeri Balakrishnan inaugurated the siege in Kozhikode; DYFI national president M.B. Rajesh, MP, in Ernakulam; K.N. Balagopal, MP, in Kottayam; CPI(M) Central committee member P.K. Sreemathy in Pathanamthitta; DYFI State president T.V. Rajesh in Malappuram; DYFI State secretary M. Swaraj in Kasaragod; CPI(M) Central committee member E.P. Jayarajan in Kannur; P. Sreeramakrishnan, MLA, in Palakkad; G. Sudhakaran, MLA, in Alappuzha; and SFI national president V. Sivadasan in Wayanad.
