Chandy defends data centre decision

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has defended the government decision not to pursue the decision to go in for a CBI investigation into the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government’s decision to pick up Reliance for the management of the State Data Centre.

Responding to questions from reporters here on Saturday, Mr. Chandy said the government had decided not to pursue the decision following criticism of the government from the Supreme Court. “You had yourself reported all this,” Mr. Chandy told the reporters.

Denies charge

Special Correspondent writes from Kottayam: Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan has denied the allegations raised by Government Chief Whip P.C. George on the decision to avoid CBI inquiry into the handing over of the State Data Centre to Reliance Group during the Left Democratic Front (LDF) administration. Speaking to mediapersons, Mr. Radhakrishnan countered the allegation, saying that “everyone knows who is engaged in leaking news and spying.” The Minister’s response comes in the wake of an allegation raised by Mr. George that T.G. Nandakumar, the man alleged to have acted as a conduit between the private company and the LDF in the deal, had spies in the Cabinet.
