Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, who is admitted to Medical College Hospital here after he sustained injuries in a stone-throwing incident in Kannur on Sunday, was on Monday advised complete rest for three days by a medical team.
Mr. Chandy was admitted to the MCH at about 1 a.m. Monday. He was examined by a full medical team, including the heads of medicine, surgery, cardiology, neuro surgery and plastic surgery departments.
His general condition was stable and ECG and blood sugar readings were normal, doctors said. He also underwent a CT scan examination, as he had been injured on the forehead and the report was normal.

“He has been injured on the forehead, chest and toe. There is contusion and oedema on his chest where he was hit by a stone,” MCH Superintendent D. Mohandas said.
VS visits Chandy
Though the doctors imposed strict restrictions, he was beset with visitors, including VIPs, Cabinet colleagues and senior Congress leaders right from the morning.

A host of mediapersons and television camera crew camped near the VIP room near Ward 2 on the medicine floor.
Governor Nikhil Kumar was one of the first VIPs to visit Mr. Chandy and enquire after his health in the morning.
Though all mediapersons were waiting for the arrival of Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan, he chose to enter the main block through another entrance.
He was out within five minutes after visiting the Chief Minister.
Though everyone scampered to meet Mr. Achuthanandan and get a byte from him, Mr. Achuthanandan, who was not accompanied by any Left leader, was tight-lipped and refused to answer queries.
The others who visited the Chief Minister included Ministers Aryadan Mohammed, Shibu Baby John, K.C. Joseph, V.S. Sivakumar, Speaker G. Karthikeyan, Congress leaders V.M. Sudheeran and M. M. Hassan, and Muslim League leader E.T. Mohammed Basheer.
Mr. Aryadan Mohammed, who spoke to the media, said the CPI(M) cannot absolve itself of the responsibility of this heinous attack on the Chief Minister, which he alleged was “very organised and well-planned”.
