Centre sends more relief materials

The Centre has lined up essential goods, medicines, bleaching powder, chlorine tablets, electricity meters, coils, transformers, cattle fodder and veterinary medicines to the State to help its relief and rehabilitation work.

According to an official statement here on Monday, the Consumer Affairs Department dispatched 100 tonnes of pulses.

Emergency medicines

The Health Ministry airlifted 52 tonnes of emergency medicines. Another 20 tonnes of medicines reached the State late on Monday.

In addition, 20 tonnes of bleaching powder and one crore Chlorine tablets will be sent on Tuesday.

Power equipment

The Power Ministry has moved power equipment such as electricity meters, coils, transformers, etc. to restore the distribution network.

The Department of Telecom (DoT) has made operational 77,000 towers out of 85,000 in the State.

Out of 1,407 telephone exchanges, except 13, all are functional now. The DoT has operationalised a helpline with number 1948 to help trace missing persons

With regard to cattle fodder, 450 tonnes has been dispatched.

Two lots of veterinary medicines have also been dispatched.

Water supply

Railways offered to supply the required volume of water and also transport relief materials free of cost. Adequate quantities of milk and milk power have been made available by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, the statement said.
