CITU protests against ‘anti-labour policies of the Centre and State’

State president of the CITU Anathalavattam Anandan has said that even the basic laws providing rights to the workers of the country were being erased by the Narendra Modi government.

He was addressing a dharna in front of the collectorate here on Saturday to protest against the ‘anti-labour policies of the Union and State governments.’

Both governments were engaged in amending laws to suit corporate houses.

At present more than 50 per cent of the workforce in the country is contract workers. They earn only about one-fourth of that earned by the permanent workers doing the same job. The Modi government was providing all facilities to even foreign corporate houses to loot the natural resources of the country, he alleged.

While the freedom to decide the price of diesel has been now vested with the oil companies, the Modi government has given the freedom to pharmaceutical companies too to decide the price of even medicines needed by cancer patients, he said.

The Oommen Chandy government had not solved even a single problem of the State, he added.
