CBEA State meet concludes

March 02, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:51 am IST - KALPETTA:

A State meet of the Coffee Board Employees Association (CBEA), concluded here on Sunday, protested against the alleged anti-employee policies of the Coffee Board.

P.C. Mohanan, president, CBEA, and former vice-chairman of the Coffee Board, said in a release here that the board was denying freedom of association to its employees, and was initiating punishment measures against CBEA members.

The board had always adopted a stance against to the organisation and now it was trying to sabotage it. Such a move was against the Constitution, he said. Many sanctioned posts of employees in the institution were vacant and it was not trying to fill them. Such a move would increase the burden of the employees and they would not be able to provide their services to coffee farmers on time.

If the board continued its anti-employee stance, the association would launch a series of agitations. K.T. Sreevalsan (vice-president); P.T. Jayan (secretary); and K. Kamalakshi (treasurer) are the other office-bearers.
