Body of man shot dead in Uganda brought home

Madhusoodanan, who was a manager of an estate at Bundibugyo, and his aide were killed by a gang of robbers on Monday.

A large gathering of mourners assembled on Friday at Thekkiyil House in Kongad near Palakkad town when the mortal remains of K. Madhusoodanan was brought home from Uganda where he was killed on Monday.

Mr. Madhusoodanan (45), who was a manager of an estate at Bundibugyo district headquarters of Uganda, was shot dead by an armed gang of robbers at the estate bungalow in the early hours on Monday. His aide was also killed by the gang robbers.

The body was brought home by his brother-in-law Magesh Nair, who is employed in the Ugandan capital of Kampala, to Nedumbassery airport by 12 p.m. on Friday. From there, the body was brought in an ambulance to Madhusoodanan’s ancestral home at Kongad where large number of relatives, friends, and locals assembled to pay respects.

His wife Manju and two teenaged daughters Meghana and Malavika had arrived on Wednesday from Pune, where Madhusoodanan had worked for years before leaving for Uganda seven months ago.

The family was settled in Pune.

M.B. Rajesh, MP; K. Achuthan and Shafi Parambil, MLAs; and other prominent personalities were present to pay their homage to the departed soul.
