The meeting of the office bearers of the BJP on Monday and Tuesday would be working out detailed programmes for its campaign for the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls and agitations against Oommen Chandy government.
Party State president V. Muraleedharan completed nominations of State office bearers on Friday which had been delayed considerably owing to differences in the party. (Four more vice presidents and five secretaries were nominated in the last leg besides party spokespersons, State Cell Coordinator and morcha presidents). Though Mr. Muraleedharan has tried to accommodate some of his retractors, there is no indication that the dissidence in the party has died down.
However, in a significant step towards inclusiveness, Mr. A. N. Radhakrishnan who had emerged as a contender for the State president’s post has been put in charge of the party’s 200-day campaign plan for the Lok Sabha elections. Details of the plan would be presented for discussions at the office-bearers meet.

The State level leaders of the party will be going to the panchayat level to meet people and organise the campaign. Management committees will be set up at the booth level. The party will also take up people’s issues at the local level. The cross section of the people to be met by leaders will include intellectuals, traders and representatives of communities such as Viswakarmas and Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
The party also proposes to continue its agitation seeking resignation of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy over solar scam though its intensity would be a matter of debate. The party has no objection to the UDF continuing in power if Mr. Chandy steps down.
The newly-appointed spokesperson of the party V. V. Rajesh said that about 40 per cent of the State-office bearers were new. One of the objectives of the meeting would be their familiarisation (besides planning of the campaigns).
