BJP backs strike

A two-day meeting of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State office-bearers and district presidents which began here on Friday extended the party's support to the motor vehicle strike called by trade unions in the State on Saturday in protest against the hike in petrol price.

BJP national joint secretary V. Satheesh inaugurated the meeting and State president V. Muraleedharan presided. Senior leaders O. Rajagopal, K.V. Sreedharan, C.K. Padmanabhan, and P.K. Krishnadas are attending the meeting. However, former State president P.S. Sreedharan Pillai is not attending it.
