Bakhshi Cup begins at Ezhimala

Bakhshi Cup, an Inter – Services sports meet for trainees of various military academies commenced at the Indian Naval Academy (INA) at Ezhimala here on March 12.

A press release issued by the INA said that trainees of the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun, Air Force Academy (AFA), Hyderabad, Officers’ Training Academy (OTA), Chennai and Gaya, National Defense Academy (NDA), Khadakwasla, and the INA were participating in the sports meet. Aimed at fostering team spirit amongst the cadets, the event is conducted every alternate year, it said adding that the last edition of Bakhshi cup conducted in 2017 had been lifted by the INA.

The events spanning five days would include football, volleyball, basketball, cross-country, tennis, and squash. A non-competitive hockey match between the INA and the NDA should also be part of the event. A total of 374 cadets would take part in the sports meet. Rear Admiral Tarun Sobti, Deputy Commandant, INA, inaugurated the sports meet on Tuesday.
