Electricity Minister Aryadan Mohamed has assured the Electricity Pensioners’ Welfare Association that the State government is duty-bound to ensure that the company replacing the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) will be more beneficial to its employees and pensioners and the consumers.
At a meeting with the office-bearers of the association in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday, the Minister said Kerala was among the very few States to give an unconditional guarantee of continuing benefits to the pensioners of the corporatised Boards.
Apprehensions about the provisions in the notification of the formation of KSEB Ltd. and in the draft tripartite agreement would be addressed.

In a statement here on Thursday, K. Radhakrishnan, chairman of the association, said the office-bearers of the association pointed out to the Minister the ambiguities in the provisions giving the guarantee, which could lead to objections and litigation.
They told the Minister that the agreement reached by many other States had clear provisions. The Minister promised to examine the complaint. The office-bearers suggested more discussions and making the representatives of the pensioners a party to the agreement.
