Actor and Rajya Sabha member Suresh Gopi on Wednesday conducted a whirlwind tour of the district, seeking support for National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidates in Ranni, Aranmula, and Thiruvalla.
Mr. Gopi addressed a huge gathering in Ranni, calling on the people to vote for the NDA candidates to ensure development of the State. Mr. Gopi proceeded to Elavumthitta and Kulanada in the Aranmula constituency and from there to Kavumbhagom in Thiruvalla, to address election rallies there.
Mr. Gopi said the NDA was for setting up an airport in Pathanamthitta district without affecting the environment.

However, he said the controversial Aranmula airport project, which required conversion of a vast expanse of wetlands and paddy field, was a closed chapter.
